of the jolly ol' time from november 18 2006
not that long ago, but still, very VERY nice memories
rooney/ben lee show but im focusing on one persona only
- gawain, ben lee's smashing guitarist
i didnt realize at the time but i now know at the sets (the venue) that there is a place where other bands can see and watch the show in the dark
so its suprise time when ben lee and the band and john ralston and the band come up during rooney's set.
they decided to make some sandwiches
boy was that super fun, i dont even remember what song rooney was playing but during the whole show i was flipping out to taylor's guitar solos and i know exactly where they are in the song so i had my camera ready and on some of them i just moved quite crazily to them
little did i know, ol' gawain must have been watching, well i had been focusing more on him when he was playing because, well, i love guitarists
and he came right up to me, kneeled down and gave me a sandwich with the biggest smile on his face and i smiled back as well
everytime i think of this, i get this huge smile on my face, even as im typing i got one
oh man
and i found out hes british, even hotter, i mean i would have liked him to be an aussie like ben, but who cares, hes got an accent and hes a talented little bugger!
i got a crap video, but the sound can be made out of his talent as ben and him were having a 'guitar off' i suppose thats what you call it
hes still awesome
oh!

the lonely island is the pick up i need these days to keep me sane while im on break, stuck in this tiny little town of tucson with only knowing my parents and maybe 2-3 other people. then, i go back to school (finally!) never thought i could actually be excited about school, but living "on my own" is so much better and i love being independent as much as i can, yet being the youngest child has those disadvantages.
i think i might start designing shoes for people who want unique-looking shoes
i painted up my emo checkered pink vans, for one i hate pink, and for two im so not emo and those vans are too comfortable to not wear so i painted them up, keith harring style

How to Make a Cuica
The cuica (also known as a puita, boi or onca) is a Brazilian friction drum that is used mainly for playing samba music. This project is easier then learning to samba.
Steps:
1. Use a plastic cup or sturdy food container for your cuica.
2. Hammer a nail through the bottom of the cup to make a hole. Make another hole 1/2 inch away from the first one.
3. Thread a 3-foot piece of waxed dental tape or floss through both holes so that the ends are inside the cup. Make sure the ends are the same length.
4. Tie a knot as close to the holes as possible. This is to keep the string from sliding out as you play the instrument. The knot should be on the inside of the cup and the tails should hang out of the cup's mouth.
Tips:
Shorten the string if it's cumbersome or to obtain higher pitched sounds.
Play the Cuica
Steps:
1. Hold the strings in one hand and the cup in the other.
2. Slide your fingers along the string. Friction is the key, so experiment with the sounds.

ok my flight was due to take off at 12:45 but lauras flight was delayed and they were boarding at noon and then my flight got cancelled so the only other flight to dulles was at 345 so i waited for 3 hrs in the frekin airport only to sit on the plane for 2 more hours until we finally took off at 6!
